Community, affordability, safe and secure, when asked to describe my initial impressions after my family and I visited one of Parkbridge’s communities over Labour Day weekend, these are the words that immediately come to mind.
Parkbridge offers both family focused and retirement communities across the country with 100 + locations spread across Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Alberta and British Columbia. On our recent stay at their Lakes of Wasaga location, we were drawn to the easy, low maintenance, community vibe of the resort, just a short 90-minute drive from our home in Oakville. Offering both an indoor and outdoor pool, on-site miniature golf and just a 5-minute walk to the beach, this resort was a crowd pleaser (aka: my 6 and 2 year old were very happy).
Parkbridge offers families an affordable option to own a vacation home via their innovative take on the traditional land lease structure - their Live Smart Lease program, simply put every resident owns the home on a leased site. This allows families to keep costs down while enjoying a vacation getaway that offers several amenities and perks.
In their own words: “We have both Family Lifestyle Communities and Retirement Lifestyle Communities. Our Cottage & RV Resorts are recreational getaways which include RV cottages and sites for travel trailers and family camping. Again, the key benefit is that customers never buy their lots. They simply pay for their exclusive use of the land for short-term periods or full seasons. Parkbridge owns and operates the land, amenities and infrastructure while our customers own the dwellings. Our philosophy is to provide getaways they can't afford to miss – at prices they can actually afford”.
While we’d love to save up to purchase our very own cottage on a nearby* lake someday, it’s good to know ownership options like what Parkbridge offers exist. When we consider the rising costs of raising kids, maintaining our primary residence, getaways to sunny coasts over the winter, cottage ownership, at least for now, is on the back burner.
If you’re interested in learning more about what Parkbridge can offer your family, have a look at their website here. Or better yet give them a call and see if a rental unit is available at one of their locations - see for yourself what the #parkbidgelife can be like!
*nearby: we avoid driving over 2 hours in any direction with kids in the car… ever.
